At one of Chad's bow building weekends, Joe oneeye gave me some burls he had harvested.

the other day I was messing around in the shop and decided to see what I could do with one of them so I sanded the bottom smooth and put it on the lathe.
this is what came out!









quite a lot of figuring in the wood once I got into it.

Gotta love that!  That is a popple (aspen) burl.  Glad that you put it to good use?

I need to make the time to get some things done on my lathe.

I bet that had a nice smell to it when working it.  I like the smell of a saw mill when they are sawing poplar.  Of course that is green wood.  Your burl was dry.
